Tidepool Wonders - San Pedro

Saturday, February 21 12:30pm-2pm
Sunday, February 22 1pm-2:30pm

Cabrillo Aquarium
3720 Stephen M. White Dr.
San Pedro

Explore one of the lowest tides of the year on the rocky shore with Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. Bring family and friends to the aquarium's John M. Olguin Auditorium for an informative slide show, followed by a walk led by Cabrillo Marine Aquarium Education Staff to the nearby Point Fermin State Marine Park.

The tidepools offer protection to a variety of local tidepool animals and seaweeds. Among the organisms are tidepool sculpin, sea urchins, sea hares, hermit crabs, feather-boa kelp, and an occasional octopus. An accessible pathway leads to the edge of the tidepools.

Reservations are required for groups of ten or more. Young children must be accompanied by an adult. Non-slip shoes and outdoor clothing are recommended for navigating the slippery, rocky shore.

While you're here visit the aquarium exhibit hall, exploration center, aquatic nursery and touch tank to observe local marine life. Plan to stop by CMA's volunteer-run gift shop for a wide selection of gifts and books. The aquarium is open weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday from 12 noon to 5 p.m.
